ERIE’s Fivestar Contractors program is designed to meet the insurance needs of today’s contractors. It includes coverages for your property, income protection and liability needs. The coverage can also be tailored to meet your specific needs with a wide range of optional endorsements.
FIVESTAR CONTRACTORS COVERAGEPROPERTY COVERAGEBUILDING, BUSINESS PERSONAL PROPERTY AND PERSONAL PROPERTY OF OTHERSERIE’s broad building definition, in addition to covering your buildings, includes permanent attachments to the buildings, building equipment and fixtures servicing the premises, personal property you have for the service and maintenance of the building, and building glass and glass wall cabinets including lettering, ornamentation and burglar alarm foil.Your business personal property and personal property of others will be protected by this policy as long as it is located in or on your premises or within 1,500 feet of your building.Additional property protection is provided in the additional and supplemental coverages as well.

  • Coverage is provided on a replacement cost basis, which eliminates any deduction for depreciation should a loss occur. Coverage is provided on a comprehensive basis, which provides coverage against all causes of loss, including theft, except those specifically excluded in the policy.
  • You will not be penalized for non-compliance with the standard coinsurance clause because this policy does not contain one. However, for your protection, it’s important to insure to value.

INCOME PROTECTIONBecause the income derived from your business is of vital importance to you, income protection coverage has been included in your policy. This important coverage benefits you in the following ways:

  • It guarantees your income to continue up to the limits shown on the declarations while your business is suspended if damage to your property interferes with normal operations. During the critical seven-day period after a loss, ERIE will advance up to $100 per day while you determine your actual loss. ERIE will reimburse you for extra expense incurred to continue nearly normal operations.
  • Actual loss of income for an additional 30 days, if your income after you resume operations is less than it was before your loss.

MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL BREAKDOWNCoverage is provided for your boilers, pressure vessels, refrigeration systems, piping, and mechanical and electrical machines or apparatus used for the generation, transmission or utilization of mechanical or electrical power caused by mechanical or electrical breakdown.ADDITIONAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

  • Fences, Walks and Unattached Outbuildings – Up to $15,000 Trees, Shrubs, Lawns and Plants – Up to $2,000 for any one loss Merchandise in Shipment Refrigerated Item
  • Moving

SUPPLEMENTAL PROPERTY PROTECTIONYour ERIE policy is a comprehensive protection package. It includes all of the following important coverages as additional amounts of coverage.

  • Exterior Sign, Light and Clocks – Up to $5,000 Peak Season – Increases coverage for Business Personal Property 25% during a peak season Temporarily Off Premises – Up to $15,000 Debris Removal – Up to 5% of the total coverage amounts for your buildings and business personal property, plus $5,000 for clean-up after a loss. Pollutants Clean-Up and Removal – Up to $10,000 Demolition Cost – Up to $15,000 Newly Acquired Property – Up to $500,000 for Buildings, up to $250,000 for Business Personal Property and up to $250,000 for Loss of Income Fire Department Service Charges – Pays the fire department service charge incurred as a result of an insured loss. Non-owned Detached Trailers – Up to $5,000 Accounts Receivable – Up to $5,000 Valuable Papers and Records –Up to $5,000

ERIE’s Pioneer Commercial Auto Insurance Program also includes many extra protection features that are available at no additional cost:

  • Physical damage coverages you buy apply to private passenger autos not owned by or furnished for regular use by you, your partner or executive officer (and their spouses) while driven by any of these people. Loss of earnings up to $500 per day should you be required to assist The ERIE in the investigation or defense of a claim. Lawyers’ fees up to $50 if you are arrested as a result of an accident. Bail bond up to $2,500 required because of an accident or traffic violation involving an auto we insure. Coverage for all expenses necessary to return your stolen auto (if comprehensive coverage is purchased). Transportation expenses up to $20 per day not to exceed $900 (45 days) for the period of time your auto is not available for use as a result of a comprehensive loss. (Higher limits are available). Reimbursement of additional expenses up to $75 per person if your trip is interrupted by a comprehensive or collision loss (if comprehensive or collision coverage is purchased on the vehicle.) In New York state, loss must occur at least 50 miles away from where the auto is garaged. All expenses necessary to replace a deployed air bag.
  • Sound equipment up to $1,000 when permanently installed in other than the dash or console.

ADDITIONAL PROTECTIONReimbursement for coverage in Mexico and other foreign countries (Not applicable in NY)When you visit a foreign country where your auto insurance coverage does not apply and you buy insurance of a similar type for an owed private passenger auto used by you or a relative, you will be reimbursed for up to 30 days of premium. This coverage is not available if you are employed, stationed in the armed services, or attending school in a foreign country.OPTIONAL COVERAGESERIE’s Commercial Auto Insurance Program can give you a complete package of coverages to further tailor the policy to meet your protection needs. Many optional coverages may be added for a reasonable additional charge.

  • Transportation expenses (collision) – covers transportation expenses, up to the limits purchased, should your auto become disabled due to a collision loss. Transportation expenses (comprehensive) – provides higher limits for transportation expenses should your auto become disabled due to a comprehensive loss. Road service – covers reasonable (unlimited) towing and labor costs for a disabled auto or light truck (under 10,000 lbs GVW). Loss of use (income protection) – covers loss of income resulting from a business interruption loss caused by a comprehensive or collision loss to your vehicle. Auto death, specific injury and total disability income benefits – provides these coverages to a named person or persons if that person dies or becomes disabled as a result of an automobile accident. (Total disability income benefits is not available in DC, NY or PA.) Physical damage insurance for hired, rented and borrowed autos – affords comprehensive and/or collision coverages to hired or borrowed autos used in your business.
  • Trailer interchange agreement – provides coverage for your legal liability assumed under a Trailer Interchange Agreement.
